Mrs. Celestine Robinson Nicks, well-known educator, passed away peacefully April 8, 2014, in St. Augustine, Fla. Mrs. Nicks, a native of New York City, N.Y., was born the eldest of three children on Nov. 17, 1914, to the late Henry George and Pearl Lucille Clement Robinson. Her family relocated to St. Augustine, when she was six years old. Having resided in Jacksonville and St. Augustine most of her life, she received her early education from the local schools of St. Johns County, graduating from Excelsior High School. Furthering her education, she attended Florida Memorial University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in home economics. As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Nicks retired from the Duval County School Board after rendering over 40 years of dedicated service. Other affiliations include a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

Survivors include her daughter, Joycelyn Nicks; sister, Ida Mae Harrison; brother, Oscar Willis; devoted friend and pastor, the Rev. David Allert (Heather); dear cousins, Carlotta and Anthony Miles, and Arthur Robinson; a number of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Christ The King Anglican Church, 6900 U.S. 1 South, St. Augustine, FL 32086, with the Rev. David C. Allert, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ The King Anglican Church.
