Jack William Hays, 45, of St. Augustine, passed away on May 9, 2014, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring surrounded by family. Born in Waukesha, Wis., Jack moved to Jacksonville at the age of 5, and later to St. Augustine where he attended St. Augustine High School. Jack's first job out of high school was working for his stepfather, Jay Solomon, who was a pioneer in sports talk radio, as a producer and manager. Most recently, and for most of his working life, he worked as a real estate agent for Sunshine Reality. Jack enjoyed being outdoors, especially in the water fishing and surfing, and was proud of getting boat captain's license in 2004. He was a beloved son, brother and father and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Zoe Hays of Ormond Beach; his mother, Jane Solomon of St. Augustine; father, James Hays of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Jennifer Hays; and brother, Jim Hays and his wife Jontie, all of St. Augustine; and his former wife, Tami Haynes of Ormond Beach. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jay Solomon.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Dan Lang officiating. A visitation, beginning at 6 p.m. will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Jack's memory be made to: EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, 1400 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
