James L. "Jim" Calderwood, 68, of Hastings, passed away on Oct. 27, 2012 at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. For many years he worked as a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in California and later in the Air Mail Center for the Postal Service in Philadelphia. Jim also worked in security for Crozier Chester Medical Center in Chester, Pa. He relocated to the St. Augustine area in 2002, moving from Glenolden, Pa. He was a member the American Legion in Aston, Pa., a member of the Lions Club, a life member of the Moose Lodge, and volunteered with the St. Johns County Humane Society. Jim was a husband, father and friend, and will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Calderwood; a son, James F. Calderwood, both of Hastings; a step-father, Angelo Marioni of Philadelphia; an uncle, John Calderwood of California; and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
