Kathryn Leola Hartley Delany, 88, went to be with God on Jan. 8, 2017, in her home on Vilano Beach surrounded by her loved ones. Kathryn was fondly known as "Kitty." She is reunited in heaven with her husband of 60 years, Albert Joseph Delany.
Kitty was a devout Catholic and was born to the late Harry and Valire Hartley. She was a native resident of St. Augustine and comes from a deep Minorcan history. Kitty cherished having her home filled with those she loved and could always be found making her legendary shrimp pileau or clam chowder.
In her youth she could always be found dancing. Shopping was one of her other favorite things to do, and she adored anything pink! Kitty graduated from Ketterlinus High School in 1946 and was able to attend her 55th class reunion in 2001.
Kitty is preceded in death by her husband, Albert and her sister, Irene Shugart. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Delany Tillman (Buddy), her sister Sadie (Johnny), her grandchildren Steven Tillman, Lisa Burney (Keith) and Angela Estes (Jason). Kitty has six great-grandchildren, Isabella, Landon, Jackson, Cole, Campbell and Cade, who adoringly called her ""Mamoo."" She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 6 .pm. with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Walsh officiating.
