Kenneth Trent, 96, of Hastings, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka following an extended illness.
A native of Indiana, he resided in Hastings since 1982 coming from Elgin, Ill. Mr. Trent was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He had worked as a traveling salesman with Brooks Brothers Clothing Stores. He was a member of the American Legion. While living in Illinois, Mr. Trent was a member of the Church of the Brethren and while in Hastings had attended the United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and played in his last tournament at the age of 82.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lela Trent.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Thelma Padgett Trent; a stepson, Joel Padgett of Tallahassee; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Dunning of Palatka; two step-grandchildren, Aashton Hodge of Palatka and Ben Hodge of Ocala; and four step-greatgrandchildren, Devan Hodge, Hannah Hodge, Aashton Hodge and Jordan Hodge.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Steve Painter officiating.
