Paul Gerald Crookshank left this world far too soon for a better place on Sept. 10, 2011.
He was born in St. Augustine, on Oct. 7, 1981 to Paul Richard Crookshank and Lisa Leigh Walton (formerly Lisa Crookshank). He was a member of the Grace Methodist Church.
Paul was a passionate man, especially about his beliefs and the people he loved. His 6-year-old son, Kanoa, was the light of his life. Paul enjoyed body building and fishing. His greatest love was surfing, and he spent as much time as he could on the ocean.
Paul was looking forward to attending St. Johns River State College in January 2012 to study computer technology. His goal was to become an Army Ranger.
Recently, Paul made a major positive change in his life. A message he had hoped to share with his friends and other young people is: If he could turn his life around, they could too. Life is too short. Don"t waste it Ñ do something about it Ñ get help.
The week before his untimely death, Paul said he believed he was put on this earth to do something good. Hopefully, something good will come from this tragic loss.
Survivors include Paul"s parents; his son, Kanoa; grandmothers Barbara Crookshank and Jan Walton; and half-sisters, aunts, uncle, cousins, nephews and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Craig Funeral Home, Rev. Dr. James Reeher officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 3 p.m. and continuing until the start of the service.
Immediately following the service, there will be a surfers" ring ceremony to celebrate Paul"s life at Vilano Beach, main entrance. All those wishing to attend are welcome.
The family respectfully declines flowers. Those wishing to do so, may make a contribution in Paul"s memory to the Kanoa M. Crookshank College Education Trust, c/o CNL Bank, 1850 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.

Paul and I were friends as teenagers and it has been many years since I had seen or talked to him, but what I remember best is laughter! We did quite a lot of it in his presence. You will be missed by many and my deepest condolences to your family through this tough time. God bless you all, and Paul make sure to keep a good eye on them down here!

Paul, you are truly a blessing to each of us who have had the privilege of calling you family and or friend. I'll continue to look at the stars on Vilano and think of you. You made it to the high road, and you died with honor. I love you Paul. Always.

P.G. I will remember you forever as we grew up together on Beacon Street and were oh so mischievious together. I cannot believe that Sept the 4th would be the last time I would ever see you here on Earth. After all these years it was neat having you sitting in my dining room. I will sure miss you..
Love Always,

You may have been loud and even unbearably obnoxious at times, but what I would not give right now to have just one more day with you, my nephew and my friend. You were my friend, always there for me, no matter what you thought, you stood by me and picked me up every time that I fell. My heart is filled with grief, humility and sympathy, longing to see you again. I will think of you everyday until we are re-united. May God hold you in his arms and take away all of your sorrow and keep you until we are together again!! I hold you in my heart and pray for you each day!! R.I.P. Paulie C. You are truely missed by soooo many people!!

Paul AKA P.G., You were my best friend, and protector. I have so many beautiful memories of our childhood growing up together. I keep seeing that chubby cheeked boy riding your big wheel up and down the alley @ Beacon Street yelling Kimbussss. I will miss your smiling face. I remember just a week before you passed you told me Jesus was your home boy. Im glad you are with your home boy in harmony forever more. I will keep checking in on Grammy. Also i will be throwing a lot of steel for you. I love you Kim

Paulie you will be greatly missed by all. Your can do attitude will be carried on through your son Kanoa. Look down upon us all with a smile, my handsome nephew, for you are in a much better place now where the waves will always be perfect to ride.
