Shirley Ann Baily was born Shirley Ann Reid in Worcester, Mass., in 1930, and passed into Jesus's arms on Jan. 4, 2014, at the Bailey Center after a long battle with cancer.
Shirley was a loving soul, always putting other people's cares before her own, a true Christian.
Shirley was married to Derek C. Baily formerly of "Derek of London Inc." and was loved beyond words; she was my queen and a wonderful mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Bachelor of Arts was granted to Shirley by Bethel Christian University, and she also was a gourmet chef, artist and business owner, yet humble with classic class, and possessed a sweet, loving spirit, and was loved by all.
Shirley's shampoos were legendary, because she prayed for every client as she served them.
She is survived by her four children: Debbie Good, David, Peterson, Steve Peterson and Bill Peterson plus 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Community Hospice Center at the Bailey Center and all of the doctors and nurses there. Also, for the Rev. Dr. Clarence Blalock and McDowell Baptist Church, who were kind and caring.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McDowell Baptist Church with a burial to follow at Craig Memorial Park.
Flowers are gratefully declined but donations to McDowell Baptist Church building fund would be gratefully received.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
