William "BJ" Ferrand, 46, of St. Augustine, passed away surrounded by his family on Dec. 7, 2012, at his home.
BJ was born in Greenfield, Ind., and moved to St. Augustine at a young age. He graduated from St. Augustine High, class of 1986. He was previously employed as the head chef at the Dolphin restaurant in Marineland, owned and operated B.J."s Land Clearing, worked as a mobile home mover, and most recently worked as a merchandizer for Burkhart Distributing Company. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Pringle Creek Hunting Club, formerly known as Hargrove Hunting Club. BJ was a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Peggy and Al Martin; sisters, Katie Ferrand and Amy Holstein; brother-in-laws, James "Jim" McGee and Tommy Cormican; and step-grandmother, Sylvia Smith Martin, all of St. Augustine; aunts and uncles, David and Nancy Brannigan, and family, of Fortville, Ind.; Shirley and Robert Young, and family, of Indiana; Jane Rivas of Norwalk, Conn.; Alice Logan, and family of West Haven, Conn.; Susie Mathena and family, of Martinsville, Ind.; Dan and Pam Logan and family of Nineveh, Ind.; Deborah Logan and family of Indianapolis, Ind.; Julie Logan-Luther and family of Kent, Wash.; Sara Baker of California; nieces and nephews, Jeanmarie (McGee) Debees, Amber Defenbaugh, James "Bo" McGee, Keri (Holstein) Umland, and Omer Lee Holstein; great nieces and nephews, Amber Debees, Zakariya Debees, Alivia McGee, and Bryce Umland; as well as many beloved cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Isaac Ferrand; maternal grandparents, Tom and Mary Logan; paternal grandparents, Bill and Rosalie Ferrand; uncles, Thomas F. Logan, James William Logan, Mario Rivas, Timothy Logan, Bob Ferrand; and aunts, Jean Marie Logan and Telesa Ferrand.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a gathering at his home following the service. A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
