Charles Walter Nanney, 87, of St. Augustine, Fla., died April 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dorsey, Miss and a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, Fla. He was a WW II veteran of the United States Navy and a Victory and Purple Heart recipient. He retired after many years from Publix as a meat cutter.

Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Father William Mooney, officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home with prayers at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Nanney of St. Augustine. His children, Curtis (Nan) Nanney of Jacksonville, Charlie (Sue Ann) Nanney of St. Augustine, Ellen Nanney of St. Augustine, Keith (Emma) Nanney of Ottumiva, Iowa; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
