June E. McGrath, 87, of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away on April 15, 2014, at The Bailey Family Center. She was a native of Huntington, W.Va., and moved to Palatka, Fla., in 1958. Upon moving to Palatka she worked for the Presbyterian Church as a church secretary and also for several doctors throughout the years. In 1965, she began working at the Putnam County Tax Collector's Office, retiring in 1988. She was a past member of the Sigma Phi Sorority and Dixie Garden Club of Palatka. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Palatka for 55 years. She moved to St. Augustine in 2000 to be closer to her family. She loved art and music and greatly enjoyed the retired life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and her family was very special to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ruth Barbour and Edward W. Elliott and three beloved nieces Cynthia Riggs, Susan Riggs and Marsha Neubecker.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn deRochemont, of Gainesville; and son, Mark (Erika) Ward, of St. Augustine; two grandchildren; Christian Tomlinson and Emily Jean Ward; one great-grandson, Kameron Lee Tomlinson; sister; Vivian (William) Bell, of Milton, W.Va.; niece, Luann Elkins of Lexington, Ky.; and two beloved friends, Janice and Kenneth Barker of Harmony, Pa.
Services will be held Friday, April 18, 2014, at Craig Funeral Home with a visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
