Richard "Rusty" Wesley Dean, 57, passed away surrounded by family on April 15, 2014, at The Bailey Center in St. Augustine, Fla. He is at peace after a long battle with lymphoma.

He was born in Montgomery, Ala., on Aug. 7, 1956, to parents Wesley H. Dean and Nell C. Dean. He grew up in Titusville, Fla., where he graduated from Astronaut High School. Richard went on to earn his Juris Doctorate degree from Florida State University in 1982.

Richard married the love of his life, Donna Comparato Dean, on Aug. 31, 1985.

He was an avid FSU fan, fisherman, traveler and animal lover. Richard had his own CPA firm and was happy to be doing what he loved until the end. (Ironically, he died on tax day).

His greatest joy was fatherhood and the times he spent with his family. He found his own personal paradise at "Valhalla by the Sea", his Summer Haven home. He always had a smile on his face and a great sense of humor.

Richard is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters, Jessica and Gabrielle; his father, Wes (Joyce); his mother, Nell; his siblings, Janet (Tom) O'Hara and Steve (Cheryl); and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws, as well as his dog, Renegade, and cat, Aurora.

A visitation will be held at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine on Friday, April 25, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Please join us to celebrate a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Community Hospice, Community Hospice Foundation for Caring, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or a local animal rescue of your choice.
