Deborah Ann Pope, 57, lost her battle with lung cancer on Monday, April 21, 2014, in St. Augustine, Fla. She was born on Sept. 27, 1956, in Crisp County, Ga. Her family moved to Florida when she was four years old and she truly embraced the Florida lifestyle. She loved the water and everything about it. Her love of nature and the beach kept her outside on countless camping and fishing trips with friends and family. She loved blue gill fishing; kiss the fish for good luck, she would say. She was a hunter of shark's teeth, finding a few thousand in her lifetime. She was a certified diver and went on numerous dives in the Florida Springs and the Florida Keys. She was an avid reader and loved a good book. But most of all, she loved being a grandmother saying once if she had known how much fun it was she would have done it first.
Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Deborah Ann Pope.
Debbie's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She loved life, and lived it to the fullest. She made each moment count and each person she met became a friend. Debbie will be missed deeply by her family and everyone whose life she touched. Our memories of her will always be treasured.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis M. Pope; her daughter, Natalie F. Cade (Almon T. Cade Jr.); her grandson, Mark D. Fowler; her mother, Nell V. Williams (Marvin Williams); and her sister, Brenda J. Hays (Wally Hays); along with many other family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 26, 2014, at Westside Christian Church located at 10123 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221. The dress for the occasion will be casual comfort; no suits, ties or dresses, flip flops are welcome. Come hungry, as there will be plenty to eat.
