Miriam Kane Browning, born Oct. 28, 1919, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Miriam was married for 69 years to John Peirce Browning Sr., who preceded her in death. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., her family moved to Palatka when she was 7 years of age. She was then a lifelong resident of East Palatka, Fla., and a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Palatka.

Miriam is survived by her three children, Robert W. Browning Sr. and wife Pamela Browning of East Palatka; Inez Browning and husband Oliver Jones of St. Augustine, Fla.; and John Peirce Browning Jr. of East Palatka. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Robert W. Browning Jr., Angela Browning, David Browning, Michelle Graham, Kristen Carroll, Danny Page, Lori Holtz, Amy Revennaugh and Jay Browning, along with many great-grandchildren, who will miss her tremendously.

A celebration of Miriam's life will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Palatka with Dr. Cynthia M. Benz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka. Visitation will be at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home from 5–7 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Miriam K. Browning's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Palatka, 123 S. 2nd St., Palatka, FL 32177, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or to Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, 380 Boys Ranch Road, Palatka, FL 32177.
