Wanda Leigh (Sprayberry) Spradling went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. A native of St. Augustine and 1976 graduate of St. Augustine High School, she worked for Dr. Phillip Horn for 17 years. Since 2006, Wanda has worked for the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office as a Human Resource Specialist. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Carl. Wanda had a particular love for helping anyone in need, and touched many people's lives by providing an uplifting word or kind deed.
She leaves behind her husband, Carl; her mother, Frances Bennett; her father, Wayne Bennett; two sisters, Beth Loveday and Kelly (Spencer) Matthiesen; one brother, Bob (Dawn) Bennett; one niece, Tiffany Bennett; and three nephews, Preston Loveday and Luke and Lane Matthiesen.
A firm believer in the 'Rainbow Bridge', Wanda was pre-deceased by her two cats, Oliver and Camille, and her beloved Rottweiler, Gunnar. Wanda will be lovingly missed by her Sheriff's Office family as well, where she touched many lives in so many ways.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine Beach, with Pastor Dan Ott, officiating.
