Jimmy Harold Fritts, 68, of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away peacefully on July 1, 2014, at Flagler Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Jim was born in Lexington, N.C., on Oct. 29, 1945, to Harold and Grace Fritts.
The Fritts family previously owned the Farmers Market Flea Market and Wholesale Alley on Highway 64 in Lexington. Jim was the general manager at Zimmerman's Department Store in Lexington in the 1970s and 8s.
Jim had lived in St. Augustine for the past 15 years where he was co-owner of Bay Ray Boat Rentals. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Grace Fritts. He is survived by his fiancé, Marilyn Nofal of St. Augustine; his daughter, and son-in-law, Wendy and Jonathan Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sons, and daughters-in-law, Eric and Wendy Fritts of Texas, and Sam and Courtney Fritts of Lexington; brother, Tim Fritts of St. Augustine. Jim also is survived by his five grandchildren, Jasmine, Gracie, Will, Charley and Cole.
Jim's infectious laugh and smile along with his great story-telling will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
There will be a celebration of Jim's life at a later date.
