Kit Irwin Tappen, 41, St. Augustine, died unexpectedly June 28, 2014, from injuries sustained in an accident. Born in Boynton Beach, Fla., Kit served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. In 2004, after completing his military service, he moved to Lake City to take over his father's company, Ability Auto. Kit relocated to St. Augustine in 2006, and was currently employed as a tow truck driver with Complete Collision.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday July 5, 2014, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
Kit is survived by his wife, Tania Marie Tappen; sons, Timothy Wayne Tappen, Matthew Alexander Tappen, Johnathan Perry Tappen; mother, Lynne Thomas, all of St. Augustine; brother, Scott Robert Thomas (Janelle); sister, Jill Elizabeth Thomas, all of West Palm Beach; nephews, Scott A. Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Steven Thomas, and Brendan Thomas, and the Baker family.
