Raymond Steve Tanner Sr. (1947 - 2014)

The Guest Book is expired.

Raymond Steve Tanner, Sr., 67, passed away July 2, 2014, with family and Vitas Hospice. He was born Sept. 25, 1947, in Jacksonville to John W. and Iris S. Tanner. He is survived by his son, Raymond Tanner, and grandchildren, Noelle Catherine Tanner, Corinne Elizabeth Tanner, Camila Sofia Tanner and Sebastian Enrique Tanner. He is also survived by a brother, John W. Tanner (Marsha) and sister, Joan T. Mathis (Charles), and the love of his life, Angie Owens Tanner, mother of Raymond Tanner Jr.
He was an Episcopalian, believed in Jesus Christ, and attended Trinity Episcopal Parish in St. Augustine.
As a Merchant Seaman, Raymond spent 40 years traveling in his career, becoming a Master Marine electrician. He settled in St. Augustine, Fla., in 2007, so he could be close to, and care for, his sister, Joan, and brother-in-law, Charles.
He often said he had an amazing life, had seen most of the world, both civilized and uncivilized, and had few regrets. He felt he was blessed with a wonderful son and amazing grandchildren. He was blessed with his one true love and an interesting and devoted family. At last the sailor is truly home from the sea.
A memorial service to celebrate his journey will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Parish, 215 S. George St., St. Augustine, FL 32084.
