Betty Mae McDaniel, age 88, of St. Augustine, died July 15, 2014 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring with her family by her side. Betty was born in Gainesville, but lived most of her life in St. Augustine. She graduated from Ketterlinus High School. While in high school, she began working as a guide at the Fountain of Youth and continued her employment there on and off for nearly 40 years. Many will remember Betty as one of the "Three Macs," with Betty McCarty and Joan McDonald, who enjoyed daily walks for over 35 years. For many years she attended Ancient City Baptist Church. Betty was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring aunt, and a faithful friend.

She is survived by her son, Gary Stephen McDaniel of St. Augustine, a sister, Ethel Guilda Liles of St. Augustine and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curry and Ethel Mae Crews, a sister, Shirley Joan King, a brother, William Curry Crews Jr. and her husband, Charles R. McDaniel.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida and/or Haven Hospice.

St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
