Richard Albert DeAngelis left this earth on Aug. 10, 2014, at the age of 65. He was born Aug. 25, 1948, to Louis and Anna DeAngelis in Philadelphia, Pa. From Philly, he moved to San Diego, Calif., then to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he lived for 20 years and was employed as a bus driver for Utah Transit Authority.
In 1999, he moved to St. Augustine, Fla., where he resided at the time of his death. He was a school bus driver for St. John"s County, affectionately known as "Mr. D" to all his kids and their parents, many who became close personal friends. He retired due to medical issues but still tried to keep in touch with the families.
Rich was a very personable and generous man helping anyone in need, earning him the love and respect of anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved children and animals. He even took care of the wild critters, earning him the nickname Dr. Doolittle; he talked to the animals, and they talked to him.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; sons, Michael (Christina), and Travis (Dani); daughter, Heidi; grandchildren, Emilia and Robert, and one on the way; sisters and brothers, Maryann, Louis, Theresa, Linda, Thomas and Robert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Anthony, and son Brian.
A great soul has left this earth, but Heaven has gained another angel.
