Paul Randy Riskus left the arms of his loving family to the awaiting arms of his heavenly family on Aug. 12, 2010, at the Earl B. Hadlow Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, after a five month courageous battle with cancer. Paul was born on May 23, 1953, and grew up in Pittsburgh, where he was a student and altar boy at St. Wendelin"s Catholic Church and School and later attended Baldwin High School. He made St. Augustine his home in 1985, where he especially enjoyed fishing the saltwater flats near Vilano Beach, Crescent Beach and Matanzas Inlet. Paul was the most passionate and vocal of Steelers fans, a self-accomplished chef and a gifted gardener, spending countless hours nurturing the magnificent flowers, trees and plants around his home. Paul was a loyal husband and father and will always be remembered for his playful sense of humor, for his exuberant and generous heart, and for being the first to arrive on the scene for his many friends and family when they were in most need.

Paul is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 25 years, Kathy, his devoted children, daughter Ashley of St. Augustine, and son Paul of Pittsburgh, a daughter-in-law Amy and an especially loved grandson, Jordan; his "big sis" Linda; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Sophia Riskus, along with brothers, Art, Carl and Ken.

A celebration of Paul"s life is being planned by his family for the near future.

St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
