Lee Bothwell Jones, III, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring/Hospice Center in St. Augustine, Fla. Lee was 80, born on Dec. 27, 1931, at St. Vincent"s Hospital in Jacksonville. After graduating from The Bolles School and the University of Florida, Lee assumed control of the family business, Florida Metal Products, where he retired as president and CEO.
His retirement immediately brought him to St. Augustine to be closer to the St. Augustine Airport and his beloved PT19 which he and his soul mate Agnes flew along the ocean shore and all over the city. He was always teased about his landings from the fun gang at Aero Sport, including Jim Moser, Craig Fordham and Bjorn. He always said it was the happiest time of his life.
Lee is survived by his devoted, loving wife, Agnes Larkin Jones and her caring, loving family. He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred Rankin (Dr. Charles Rankin) and Ella Mae Chadbourne; and sons, Lee B. Jones, IV and family and Stephen Clark Jones and family.
We will see you at our hangar in the sky. God speed, safe landing. Love always.
At Lee"s request services are private.
Donations in Lee"s name may be made the Bailey Family Center for Caring/Hospice Center, St. Augustine.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
