Kenneth D. "Ken" Worley, 72, of St. Augustine, died unexpectedly on June 4, 2013, at his home.
Born in Dozier, Ala., Ken grew up in Gainesville, where he attended the University of Florida, becoming a lifelong Gator fan. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and relocated from Gainesville to St. Augustine in 1969. Ken worked for Sears and later owned and operated "Ken"s Appliance Service" for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of Anastasia Baptist Church. Ken will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Sheri Thomas and her husband, Eddie, and Tammie Erkelens; a son, Danial "Corey" Worley and his wife, Lori, all of St. Augustine; his mother, Ellen Irene Worley of Gainesville; sisters, Joyce Mathews and her husband, Howard; Eloise Harris and her husband, E.F., of Waldo; June Cribbs and her husband, Harvey, of Chiefland, Fla.; and Pennie Lefkowitz and her husband, Steve, of High Springs, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Moore officiating. A visitation of family and friends beginning at 6 p.m. will precede the service. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery will be held on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to St. Augustine Humane Society, 1665 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
