James Irwin "Jim" Masters, 82, of Elkton, Fla., died July 1, 2013, at Flagler Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of St. Johns County.

HeÊgraduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1949. During his life heÊalso attended the University of Florida, Frederick Community College, Portsmouth, Va.,Êand St. Johns Community College, Palatka.ÊHe retired from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve in 1979 after 30 years of service. He was a combat veteran, serving in the Occupation of Japan after WWII, the Korean War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. ÊHe was a State of Florida master electrician and owned and operated Jim Masters Electric.

A funeral Mass will be celebratedÊatÊ11 a.m. MondayÊat St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Elkton, The Rev. Kiran Medipalli, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery. Visitation will be heldÊ5 to 8 p.m. SundayÊwith a prayer service atÊ7 p.m. atÊCraig Funeral Home.Ê

He was the husband of the late Mary Alice Masters.

He is survived by his daughters, Holly Rodriquez (Carlos) and Amy L. Masters; his sons, James D. (Vickie), Harry L. (Jean), Joseph K. (Beth), Darryl J. (Tina); sisters, Joan Tringali (Dominic), Virginia Schrenker (Jack), Janice ThomasÊSr. Mary Ruth Masters; sister in laws, Janice Davis, Jeanette Tetter and Patricia Lore; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katie, Carlos, David, Jessica, Linnea, Melissa (Wes), Matthew (Brittaney), Jamie (Steve), Michael (Kim), Ethan and Jillian.
