Robert J. "Bob" Carlin, 83, passed away at the Bailey Center on July 24, 2013. Bob was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Florida in 1939. At age 18, Robert joined the U.S. Navy. Ret. Chief Carlin worked in Navy intelligence for 21 years and held a top secret cryptographic clearance. He then went on to a second long and successful career in banking, retiring from Barnett Bank in 1991.
An avid golfer, Bob was a longtime member of the Palatka Men"s Golf Association and a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Robert is survived by the love of his life and wife of 25 years, Cathy Clay Carlin; daughters Bridgett Carlin and Lynnette Dillon; brother Gary Carlin; sister Jane Albright; grandchildren Paul Dillon, Jr. and Tina Lisco; and his beloved Yorkshire terrier Trixie.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine. A reception will follow services at the Shores Golf Club.
