John Andrasko, 97, passed away on Aug. 8, 2013, at the Moultrie Creek Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born on Sept. 15, 1915 in Mishawaka, Ind., to his parents, John and Julia (Borsis) Andrasko.

John"sÊfamily moved east to Connecticut, where he lived most of his life, then moving to south Florida. He resided in St. Augustine for the past nine years. During World War II he served overseas in Iceland and England constructing fuel depots for the Allied Aircraft. John attended Yale University to study metallurgy as he entered into the pipeline industry, completing projects in the New England area.

He also started various companies in land development, building construction and a wholesale plumbing supply distributorship. He applied for and held two patents from the US patent Office related to tools used in the construction trades. In his earlier years he built, owned and drove open pit racing cars, he was an avid fisherman and loved the water and boating.

During his life, he was devoted to his faith and belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It was with joy that he studied Gods word in the scriptures; always eager to bring the Good News of Christ to anyone he met. He directly supported many missions and missionaries and worshiped at the St. Augustine Church of Christ. Above everything in his long and active life, he was a man who loved GOD.

ÊJohn was married to beloved wife of more than 75 years, Helen (Skuda) Andrasko, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Blondin and Lee Siegrist; other family and friends.

ÊHe is survived by his son, Russell A. Andrasko, St. Augustine; daughter Joan (Gary) Peterson, Albuquerque; grandson, Russell (Colleen) Andrasko Jr, Thetford, Vt.; granddaughter, Susan (Jim) Pomar, St. Augustine; grandsons, Wayne Andrasko, Napa, Calif., and Marshall Peterson, Las Vegas; granddaughter, Michele (Drew) Buckles, Denver; four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ashley, Ryan, Matthew; and other family members.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Craig Memorial Park on 2600 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, on Monday, August 12, at 1:00 p.m.

Craig Funeral Home, Crematory, and Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
