Roger Clay Thaxton, 80, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla. He was born in White Hall, Ill., on Sept. 11, 1933. Roger joined the Coast Guard, serving our country honorably for 20 years. Roger resided in Pensacola for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Muriel Thaxton. Roger leaves his wife Saralyn, daughter, Judith Carroll and son-in-law, Phillip Carroll of Jacksonville, Fla., and their four children; as well as Saralyn's daughter, Jennifer Davis of Pensacola, Fla., her children and grandchildren. Survived also by his brother, David Thaxton, and sister, June Hitt both of Jacksonville.
