Robert E. "Gene" Arnold, 62, of St. Augustine, formally of Jacksonville, passed away on Tues. Sept. 4, 2018. Surviving is his wife of 29 years Susan Arnold and their children, Sterling Arnold of St. Augustine, Heather Cumbo of Jacksonville, Kristin Baker (Wesley) of Cairo, Ga. and Michael Johnson (Carmen) of Atlanta, Ga. They have a total of nine grandchildren.
He is also survived by his father Chester Arnold, Jacksonville, his mother Martha Arnold has passed. He is also survived by his sisters Sondra Cassady and her husband Tim of Jacksonville, and Teena Weinberg and her husband Isaiah of N.C. His sister Dana Dalton is deceased.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, feeding the deer at his home in N.C. and traveling. If he wasn't fishing he was always talking about it or going down to the boat ramp at Vilano Beach just to see everyone. His charities are Ocean Reef Conservation Association Inc. of Key Largo or ASPCA.
He was a husband, a father, a brother, a son, a PaPa, a buddy, a friend to others and sometimes a pain in the ass, but we all loved him with all our hearts. Gene had many friends and family and he will be missed by all.

Geno I can't believe it has been 5 years since you left. A lot has happened. The kids are all doing good, everyone is healthy and happy. Pops is still hanging in there. Sondra and Teena are good. As you know mother passed away last September. I am sure you two are running a muck. Lord knows you did down here. Got another cabin in NC. Just love it. I share it with a wonderful man. I pretty sure you would like him. The kids do. I moved out of St Augustine. I still go back from time to time. You are still loved and missed. Can't believe 5 years has gone by. I dont know where the times goes. I am trying to live my best life as you and I talked about. Take care of everyone in Heaven and I will see you in my dreams. Love always Susan

Geno, I cant believe it has been 3 years since you passed away. I still miss you every day. When I would yell Geno and your response is YO. I miss hearing your voice. I have 1 recorded message so I listen to it sometimes just to hear you. A few things happen this year. I did retire in 2020 which you know was huge. I bought a new RV and you would love it. It works great for me and the girls. I can drive it anywhere, back it up and get it set up in no time. We are still doing Fla/Ga, and we also have more camping trips planned this year. Like you say, if you have it use it. You know I had to put Sara and Madison down. I know you greeted them once they arrived. I ended up getting a new puppy in July. You were always were here to potty train them and show them the ropes. I forgot how hard it is a train a puppy. Ruby is showing her around which helps. I rented a house in the Keys for 2 weeks. You would have loved it. I was able to get all of the kids there, the granddaughters and we had a wonderful time. You know this was the first vacation we all took together. Once they left I had my friends come down and we also had a great time. You would have been right at home with everyone. I still have that bottle of Rum we never opened as we were to drink on our 30th anniversary. Maybe I will do a toast next year, even though it would be 33 years. I have truly tried to move forward and some days are better than others. I have been thinking about Sept 4th for a while now knowing this is when you took your last breath and I hate this day. It is filled with a lot of sadness, a lot of loneliness and emptiness. I know you are in a better place and I cant wait to see you again. I will love you always Susan

Two years ago today you left. A lot has happen in those 2 years. I sold the house and built a new one, I learned how to drive the camper and have taken it places. I sold the cabin to a nice older couple that should really take care of it. Sterling moved to Atlanta with his job and has been there 2 years, Heather is dating a real nice guy, a fireman you would like him. Shorty is working, still in GA and all of the grand kids are now taller than me. Mike is doing good and helping Sterling study for a new position. Pops is doing great, mother not so much and Tim and Sondra help me a lot. My friends have been fantastic. They check on me, and we all do things together to stay busy. Teena moved from the Keys to NC. Donnie still goes to his favorite BBQ places all the time, but Cheryl keeps a good check on him LOL. You know he still thinks he is in charge. Well I just wanted to give you an update on the past 2 years. I cant believe it has been this long. I think of you every day, still laugh at the crazy things we have done. I love you and miss you and I know you hear me when I talk to you.
BTW the Celebration was just as you wanted. Friends/Family laughing having a couple of beers or glasses of wine but I know you were there. Love you Geno

Susan there are no words that I could say to you or your family to make your days brighter or the sorrow to make you all feel better or happier. Just know that I love you and I know Geno will always be your guiding light above to watch over you, his children and the grandchildren. Rest In Peace Geno.

I'll always miss how you said "Hey hey Shorty!!", I'll miss how you accidentally introduced Wesley as "Will" to neighbors at the cabin, and I'll miss how you always told Nola "Okay, just ONE MORE piece of candy" after I've told her no. The memories are everywhere and so are you. You'll always be so loved.
