COAL CITY- Charlotte Baswell Nix, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013 while surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and unforgettable friend. Charlotte retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation in 1998 after 23 years of service. She was a member of Cropwell Baptist Church, Pell City Line Dancers, Charter member and former Chaplain of the Pell City Elks Lodge. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Herbert Leon Nix; sister, Janice Motes; children, Benny (Denise) Thackerson, Tammy (Garland) Brock, Pamela (Phil) Dodd, Anita (Jeff) Massey, Kenneth Nix and Belinda Hall; grandchildren, Brooke, Lauren, Hailey, Jennifer, Paige, Kendra, Angela, Brock, Justin and Eric; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; including special niece, Tina Maddux. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with Dr. Phillip Burden officiating.. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Harkey's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to or Camp Smile a Mile. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.
