Funeral service for John Brown Dye, age 77, were held Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Interment was in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dye died March 9, 2014. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He pastored Calcis Baptist Church in Vincent for 14 years and Palestine Baptist in Ragland for 16 years. He drove a propane gas truck for 34 years in the Pell City area. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dean Dye; son, Fred (Donna Massey) Dye; daughter, Linda Dye Gilliam; brother, Arthur Dye; grandchildren, Brandy (Brandon) Layton, Bradley Dewayne Gilliam, Christian Diane Gilliam, Jenna Massey, Christopher Massey, Megan Massey, Adrin Massey; great-grandchildren, Braxton Layton, Lily Jane Osborne, Arianna Street, JJ and Hunter Massey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Lee, Dan Ferguson, Ben Hazelwood, Daryl Hallman, Brian Smith, Jamie Dye. Honorary pallbearers are Braxton Wade Layton, and Lily Jane Osborne.
