Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Lou Phillips, 79, was Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with Dr. David Roberts officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips passed away March 9, 2014 in Ashville. Mary Lou was a talented seamstress, quilter and crafter. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being outside and gardening. She was an active member of New Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was known for her signature coconut cake. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and her great-grandson Will was the great joy of her last two years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Balma Rutledge Bowlin, brothers Jimmy, John and Mack Bowlin, her husband, Fred Ross Phillips, and by her son-in-law, Douglas Keith. She is survived by daughters, Dianne P. Keith, Denise P. (Randy) Garrison, chosen daughter, Margaret Hale, grandchildren, Brian (Veronica) Keith, Ginger Garrison, great-grandchild, William Ross Keith. Honorary Pallbearers were Gerald Phillips, Duane Phillips, James Bowlin, Gary Hare, Wayne Hare, Charles Rutledge, Jr., Terry Early, Sam McCord.
