Christine A. Bierman
Christine A. Bierman, age 69, of Stevens Point, passed away on February 7, 2014, at St. Michaels Hospital, Stevens Point, surrounded by her loving family.
Chris was born June 19, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA to James and Mary (Dingfelder) Irwin. At an early age the family moved to Portsmouth, OH, where Chris graduated valedictorian in 1962 from Notre Dame High School. In 1966 Chris graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelors degree in elementary education. She was united in marriage to John Bierman on December 19, 1970, in Fairfax, VA.
Upon graduation from Ohio U, Chris moved to the Washington D.C. area where she worked as a summer intern in the office of Congressman Harsha of Ohio. In the fall Chris began her teaching career at Weyanoke Elementary School in Fairfax, VA. Once her children began preschool, she taught at Epiphany Preschool in Vienna, VA, and preschool for the Naperville, IL Park District. Her last position was as a volunteer in student correspondence at The White House in Washington DC. Upon her husband's retirement in 2002, they moved to Stevens Point to be closer to family. Chris most recently volunteered at Operation Bootstrap.
Chris was an extremely compassionate woman who made lifelong friends everywhere she went. Her friends and family were very important to her. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, giving person. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, biking, hiking, reading, and working out with her friends at the YMCA. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her six grandchildren.
Chris is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jack of Stevens Point; children Doug (Trina) and Steve (Brenda), both of Stevens Point, and Brian (Jenn) of Naperville; six grandchildren, Braeden, Brea, McKenzie, Addison, Tyler, and Dylan; her sister Mary Jo (Richard) Kelly of Pittsburgh, PA; and one brother Jack (Ann) of Woodstock, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in Stevens Point with Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Visitation will be held at Boston Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will conclude with a rosary. Visitation will also be held on Friday February 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the church until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Green Circle Foundation, Operation Bootstrap, or St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
The family would like to thank everyone in the Marshfield Clinic Oncology Unit at St. Michaels Hospital for their compassionate care of Chris during her long battle with cancer.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of His hand

It saddens me to see that Chris has past. I did not realize she was ill. My deepest sympathy to Jack and family. When I worked at the front desk of the YMCA it was always such a joy to see you both. My thought and prayers are with you. Chris was a wonderful person with that beautiful smile. Cherish the memories.
