Mallum, Esther  
Mallum, Esther MERCER, Wi. - Esther Mallum, 95, of Mercer, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 surrounded by her family, and loved ones. She was born June 8, 1919 in the Town of Franzen, Marathon County, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Michael and Julia Cebula. She married Harold Mallum November 30, 1940 at St. Jospeph's Catholic Church in Galloway, Wi, where they owned a farm. Later they moved to Mercer, Wi. He preceeded her in death in 1977. Esther was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, canning, crocheting, and gardening. She made fresh baked bread and homemade cake or pie everyday for her family. She spent many hours growing beautiful flowers in her garden, and walking through the woods enjoying the many beauties of nature. Esther volunteered for Green Thumb with the Senior Nutrition Program in Mercer for 17 years as a cook. In her later years, she loved playing cards and traveling with her companion Ray Brossmer, who proceeded her in death in 2009. An honorable mention also goes out to her special friends and caregivers Linda Miller and Susan Stanke with whom she also enjoyed spending time with. She is survived by four sons, Jerome, and Vernon (Mary) both of Wausau; Roger ("Gene") (Margaret) of Mercer; and Randy (Karen) of Ironwood; and two daughters, Roxanne Mallum of Onalaska; and Rosalie (Jeff) Richter of Mercer; her grandchildren; Brenda Frazier, Richard Mallum, Kevin Mallum, Gene Mallum, Carrie Mallum-Mahlum, Jamie Buettner, and Matthew Mallum, and her sisters, Irene Duncan of Charlotte, NC; and Delores (Lowell) Weibel Boulder City, NV. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Esther was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Cebula; and her sisters, Clara Blevins; Theresa Riske; Veronica (Francis) Heigner; Lucille Gay; Lillian Cebula; and Martha Cebula. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Isaac Jogue's Catholic Church in Mercer, WI, Fr. Ronald Serrao will preside. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood.

Mohr, Vila M.  
Vila M. Mohr Vila May Mohr, 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at St. Michaels Hospital. Vila was born on September 28, 1922 in the township of Almond to the late Clarence and Ella (Roberts) Nigh. She attended the Bluff school. In 1943 Vila moved to Stevens Point and began working at Hotel Whiting as an elevator operator. Later she was promoted to the front desk and then as a Greyhound Bus Agent. Vila worked for a short time in the office at Consolidated Paper Mill, Point Division. She also worked in the shipping and receiving department at JC Penny's. In the early 1950's she began working for Babywell Furniture Co. On November 26, 1948 the former Vila Nigh married the late Elmo McCann at the Almond Methodist Church parsonage. The couple later divorced. On September 25, 1954, Vila married the late Harold L. Mohr at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Steven Point. Harold passed away December 3, 1963. Vila liked watching Game Show Network, doing word search puzzles, watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday nights and listening to her nephew "Uncle Ozzie" play old time music & going to KFC. Survivors include 2 daughters, Luree Woehrle of Whiting & Loretta "Lori" (David) Kontney Sr. of Sussex; 1 step-daughter, Donna (Walt) Fischer; 1 step-son, Richard (Sue) Mohr; granddaughter, Rusty Leeann Woehrle; grandsons, David Kontney Jr. & Jeremy Kontney; 10 step-grandchildren, Alan, Dori (Gary), Norm (Kerry), Belinda, Harold "Tim", Kristie, Kornia (Ed), Kelly, Dawn (Jeff), & Brian. She is further survived by 19 step-great grandchildren; 4 step-great great grandchildren; and extended family. Vila was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents, Clarence & Ella Nigh; 1 step-daughter, Barbara Niewiadomski; 1 step-son, Ronald Mohr; 1 step-son-in-law, Eugene "Geno" Niewiadomski; her paternal grandparents, George & Zertilla Nigh; her maternal grandparents, Henry & Effie Roberts; 2 sisters, Pansy Alder & Effie Banks; 4 brothers, C. Emerson Nigh, Emery "Teen" Nigh, H. Helmus Nigh, & infant William; 1 sister-in-law, Ione Nigh; 2 brother-in-laws, Clifford Banks Sr. and Ronald Alder Sr.; 2 nieces, R. Rosalie (Banks) Werner & infant Lynda Nigh; & 1 nephew-in-law, Jack Werner. A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. David Ficken officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield, WI. The family requests that you wear something red to the service in memory of Vila, as it was her favorite color. Online condolences may be made at .
