Peplinski, Mary Damian  
Peplinski, SSJ-TOSF, Sr. Mary Damian Sister Mary Damian Peplinski, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 67 years, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, 1300 Maria Drive, Stevens Point, with the Rev. Todd Mlsna officiating. Burial will be in the convent cemetery. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. The former Celestine Frances Peplinski was born April 2, 1927 in Winona, MN to the late Peter and Catherine (Glowacki) Peplinski. She grew up on the family farm in Trempealeau County, WI. Prior to entering the convent in Stevens Point on Aug. 29, 1947, she was employed as a secretary at the courthouse in Winona. On Aug. 10, 1955 she professed her perpetual vows as a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis. Sister Damian earned a B.S. Ed from St. Norbert College in DePere, an M Ed from Marquette University, and an Advanced Certification in Catechesis from the Diocese of La Crosse. She was an educator for 35 years in Catholic Schools in WI. In the Diocese of La Crosse she served as teacher/principal at St. Peter and St. Stanislaus, Stevens Point; St. Pius X, La Crosse; Sacred Heart, Cashton; St. Francis, Ellsworth; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Stanislaus and Holy Family in Arcadia. In 1985 she moved to Galesville as caregiver to her elderly mother, secretary at Marynook Retreat Center, and typesetter for the Courier-Republican newspaper. She retired at St. Joseph Motherhouse in 2009 and was devoted to prayer ministry. Survivors include her sister, Esther Pronschinske of Waumandee; brother, Hubert (Rita) Peplinski of Trempealeau; sisters-in-law, Lorna Koltermann of Galesville, and Jane Peplinski of Winona. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward & David, and infant sisters, Rita and Margie. Memorials may be offered to the Sisters of St. Joseph-TOSF. Phillip, Geraldine "Gerry"  
Phillip, Geraldine "Gerry" Geraldine "Gerry" Phillip age 88, died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday morning July 19, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 22, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Stanchik will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be form 9:00 - 10:45 AM at the church on Wednesday. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family. Geraldine was born May 11, 1927 in Montello, the daughter of Gerald and Anna (Metcalf) Collins. As a child the family moved to Stevens Point, and Gerry attended local schools and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1945. She worked at Sentry Insurance prior to her marriage to George Phillip on July 23, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The couple settled in Stevens Point and raised their family. Geraldine later worked as an IMC library aide at Emerson and Jefferson Schools for 17 years, retiring in 1986. Geraldine enjoyed, with George and family, their "up north" cottage on Sand Lake, for over 45 years, and the many annual family gatherings, spanning five generations. She also enjoyed singing, reading, crossword puzzles, and playing bridge. She was a member of St. Joseph's St. Ann's Society, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and St. Joseph's Adult Choir for over 50 years. Geraldine is survived by her children: Marilyn (Tom) Cychosz, Karen Patton, Joan (Tom) Kluck, and Jim (Jeanne) Phillip. Her sister Carol Polka, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 2010, and their son Tom in 2005. Geraldine's family wishes to thank the Portage County Health Care Center especially the North and South Wings, for the care given to our mother over the past 5 years.
