Zurawski, Cecelia R. "Ceil"
Cecelia R. "Ceil" Zurawski, 86, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, February 9, 2013, at North Ridge Assisted Living in Stevens Point.
She was born on November 6, 1926, in Stevens Point, to the late Alexander and Constance (Gollon) Zalewski. Ceil attended St. Casimir's School in the Town of Hull and was a 1944 graduate of P. J. Jacobs High School. On June 6, 1953, she married Raymond A. Zurawski at St. Peter Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1995.
During the early years of her married life, Ceil worked at Worzalla Publishing Company. She later became a homemaker, and was an active member of the St. Peter Rosary Society and a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 295. She enjoyed many of the simple pleasures of life: playing cards, gardening, praying, fishing, and vacationing on the lakes in northern Wisconsin. Perhaps her greatest source of joy was time spent visiting with family members who often filled her home with sounds of laughter and conversation late into the evening. She maintained her enthusiasm for dancing and listening to music throughout her life. Her kindness, gentle disposition, and sweet smile charmed and endeared her to everyone she met.
Ceil is survived by her sons, Raymond M. (Susan) Zurawski of De Pere, and their daughter, Alexandra; and Richard (Jackie) Zurawski of Arvada, CO, and their daughters, Jaimee (Greg) Keene, of Boulder, CO, and their children, Grant and Alexander; Jodie Carey of Aurora, CO, and her children, Alana and Brice; and Jenny (Aaron) Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, and their daughter, Brynn. Also among her survivors are numerous nieces and nephews and their families to whom she was known affectionately as "Auntie Ceil."
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ceil was preceded in death by twin infant daughters and by her 15 older brothers and sisters: Anna, Helena, Anton, Mary, Emily, Frances, John, Thomas, Benedict, Verna, August, Alois, Edward, Ambrose and Katherine.
The family members wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals at North Ridge Assisted Living, Community Care of Central Wisconsin, and Heartland Hospice for the loving care and thoughtful attention they provided.
The Funeral Mass will be held later this Spring, with details provided in the Stevens Point Journal at that time. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, Stevens Point, is assisting the family with arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com
