Donald R. Skowronski
Donald R. Skowronski, age 73, of Plover, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital while surrounded by his children & grandchildren.
Donald was born October 10, 1939 to the late Walter & Esther (Waldowski) Skowronski in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up here, attended St Stanislaus Grade School and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School. Following high school, Donald attended Central State Teacher College and graduated with a degree in mathematics.
He married Carol Ann Buckman on June 30, 1962 at St Stephen Catholic Church, Stevens Point. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2005.
Donald worked for the SooLine Railroad for a short time before becoming employed with Consolidated Papers, WI River Division in Whiting, WI. He started out as a laborer in the yard and worked several positions before becoming a lab technician. Donald retired after 37 years of service.
Donald will be remembered for his loving, caring and giving nature. He cherished family get-togethers. Family was very important to Donald, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed traveling, contests, photography, sports, gardening, cooking, and puzzles. He also had a witty and memorable sense of humor that was shared with family and friends. His faith was important to him and he was a dedicated member of St Stanislaus Catholic Church. Donald enjoyed attending church picnics every summer.
Survivors include his children, Stephanie Skowronski of Stevens Point, Jeffrey (Paula) Skowronski of Clintonville, WI & their children, Andrew, Ryan, Nathan, & Matthew; daughter, Messina Skowronski of Stevens Point, and son, Christopher (Becky) Skowronski of Plover & their daughter, Emily. He is also survived by a niece, Patricia (Dale) Pliska of Plover & their daughter, Tracy; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Ann; and brother, Walter.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Lindner officiating. Friends may call at Boston Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow the Funeral Mass in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
