Herbert Payne Miller JR.
Herbert Payne Miller, JR., 84, of Evansville, WI passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Herbert was born on April 21, 1929 to Herbert and Rosalia (Brauch) Miller in Rock Island Illinois. He graduated from Rock Island High School and earned his bachelor's degree and medical degree from The University of Iowa
. He served honorably in the United States Army in Germany from 1955 to 1957. Herbert married Gisela Gross Parleese on May 28, 1957. She died on June 21, 1994.
Herbert was a practicing pathologist in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin for over 30 years. He was a lifetime avid golfer. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and coins as well as spending time with his family. Herbert was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and he devoted much of his later life to the study and contemplation of his faith. Herbert was a long time resident of Stevens Point before moving to his final home in Evansville.
Herbert is survived by his five children; Brian (Argelia) of Brownsville, TX, Janice of Evansville, WI, Bruce of Columbus, WI, Joyce of Stevens Point, WI, and Judith of Fitchburg, WI; along with his brother Frank, sister Mary, and four grandchildren.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, David.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow the Funeral Mass in Guardian Angel Cemetery with a luncheon at the church after the cemetery committal rite.
