Kosiec, Leon J., Sr.

Leon J. Kosiec Sr., 85, of Rosholt, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

He was born on Jan. 16, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Karl and Mary (Krzus) Kosiec, and was a graduate of the Chicago Technical College with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Leon entered the U.S. Army on April 30, 1945, in Chicago. His honorable discharge, at the rank of Tec 5, took place on Nov. 30, 1946, at Ft. Sheridan, Ill.

His marriage to Feliksa Kusy took place on June 6, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chicago.

He had worked as a plant engineer for the BASF Chemical Company in Chicago before his retirement, when he and Feliksa moved to the Rosholt area in 1989. His interests included gardening, a good beer, and polka dances at church picnics.

Survivors include his wife, Feliksa of Rosholt; sons, Leon (Cindy) Kosiec, Jr. of Plover, Richard (wife, Rosemary Richmond) Kosiec of Rosholt, and Michael Kosiec of Carlsbad, Calif.; daughters, Mary (husband, Ken Arellano) Wolf of Chicago, and Bernadette (Chris) Saad of Wayne, Ill.; grandchildren, Kathleen and Thomas, William, Laura, David, Joseph and Sarah, Orion and Camyn; and great-granddaughter, Isabella.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorraine Laskowsky and Lillian Dybal.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
