Louise Lemke, age 87, of Stevens Point, formerly of Almond, WI, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Northcrest Assisted Living in Stevens Point, WI. She was born November 19, 1926 in Stevens Point, WI; daughter of William B. and Jessie I. (Hewitt) McGinley. On October 21, 1944, Louise married Frederick "Fritz" Lemke in Plainfield, WI and they shared 66 years of marriage before his passing on October 24, 2010. She worked for 23 seasons for Del Monte Co. in Plover. She enjoyed going for walks and birdwatching, especially cardinals. Louise and Fred especially enjoyed watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren with their school and sporting events. She will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Louise is survived by her four daughters: Linda Hershberger of Plover, WI, Candy (Bill) Lamb of Almond, WI, Debra (Lowell "Bing") Getzloff of Stevens Point, WI, and Brenda (Dale) Bohn of River Falls, WI; eight grandchildren: Curt (Lori) Lamb of Almond, WI, Robin (Shannon) Brown of Arpin, WI, Carrie (Jake) Omernik of Almond, WI, April (Jason) Stiles of Bancroft, WI, Jeff (Nicole Schilling) Hershberger of Plover, WI, Emily (Erich) Gerding of New Franklin, MO, Josh McIntee of Almond, WI, and Brady McIntee of Almond, WI; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Jackie Lemke of Almond, WI and Lois Lemke of Altoona, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jessie McGinley; her husband, Frederick "Fritz" Lemke; one grandson, Lowell Getzloff, Jr.; two granddaughters, Samantha and Hanna McIntee; one great-granddaughter, Grace Stiles; a son-in-law, Don Hershberger; three brothers; and six sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond, WI. Pastor Brian Roehrborn will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, March 23rd, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond and again on Monday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will take place in the spring at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Almond. The Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
A special thank-you to Northcrest Assisted Living, 2nd floor staff at St. Michael's Hospital, and Dr. Ryan Andrews with Ministry Medical Group in Stevens Point for all of their help and support given to our family. The special care our mother, Louise, received will never be forgotten.
