Howen, Marian H. "Mitzi"

Marian H. "Mitzi" Howen, 79, of Stevens Point, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Mitzi was born on December 25th of 1933 in Marinette, Wisconsin, to the late Benjamin and Agnes (Paul) Meyer. She graduated from Laona High School in May of 1952. She was known as a quiet, serene and content person with a gracious and pleasing manner. As a young lady, she worked at Regal China and Nestles. As a strong and confident woman, she was a pioneer in the Die Department at Potlatch.

She started her own business (Mitzi's Exclusive Molds), where she made dies and molds for ceramic shops across the country. She also made many things that grace the homes of many of her loved ones. Later, she went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at the Veterans' Home in King, Wisconsin. Toward the end of her career, she devoted her time doing in-home health care for the elderly. Their family members expressed true appreciation for her kindness and quality of care through numerous letters and comments.

Mitzi was a person of incredible faith in God. She truly enjoyed crafts, bingo, playing cards and being with her sisters, children and grandchildren. Mitzi was and is truly loved by many.

Survivors include her children, James (Kelly) Howen, Christina Howen-Hancock, Robert (Cynthia) Howen, M. Sherry (Terry) Dickerson, Susan (Scott) Van Slochteren, Diana Howen-Knapp, Dale Howen and Mickey (Patricia) Howen; grandchildren, Marian Marlene, Roxanna, Rachael, David, Holly, Lester (Jim), Joshua, Samantha, Brian, Christina, Jessie, Amanda, James, Stormy, Benjamin, Dale, Jenna, Taylor, Alison and Megan; great-grandchildren, Ramona, Ava Jolie, James Anthony, Justin, Robert, Kurt, Brittney, Christonna, Hunter, Octavio, Lorena, Gabriela, Lesean, Jacob, Allison, Ian, James, Adaila, Mariah, Madison, Dillon and Sophia; great-great-grandchildren, Parker and Kinleigh; sisters, Adeline (Robert) Gardner, Dolores (Peter) Clover and Rose Anna (George) Gardner; and brother, James Meyer.

In addition to her parents, Mitzi was preceded in death by her brother, James Bernard Meyer; and aunt, Emma Paul.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Inurnment will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery's Columbarium. Visitation will be in the St. Faustina Room of the church on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
