Mildred Marie Voelker

Mildred Marie Voelker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed into eternity on December 20, 2012.Mildred was born in Hanover, Kansas on October 16, 1916. She was the third of six children born to Chris and Anna (Meerian) Koppes.

Mildred received her elementary and high school education through the Hanover, Kansas school system.

Following high school graduation, she moved to Manhattan, Kansas where she met Carl Joseph Voelker. Mildred and Carl (C.J.) were married on June 1. 1942 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, Kansas.

Following Carl's graduation in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University they settled in Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois where Carl practiced for thirty nine years. Mildred assisted Carl in his veterinary practice and together they raised four children.

They were long time members of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Pittsfield. Mildred moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin following Carl's Death in 1993 and has lived here for the past fifteen years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Chris and Anna Koppes, her husband, Carl, a brother Ed Koppes, and three sisters, Agnes (William) Lowe, Marjorie (Ralph) Brown and Marcella (Les) Gravatt, and one grand daughter, Elizabeth Zahner.

Mildred is survived by her sister Loretta (Joseph) Neville, a son Gary (Shirley) Voelker of Centennial, Colorado, and three daughters: Judy (John) Picconatto of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Sharon (Carl) Zahner of Tallahassee, Florida and Yvonne (Gary) Moore of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephens Catholic Church on Thursday December 27, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Visitation at the church will from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM will precede Mass. The grave side service with interment will held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pittsfield, Illinois on Friday, December 28, 2012 in the early afternoon.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in Mildred's name will be established at a later date. Your prayers for the repose of Mildred's soul as she continues her journey to Heaven would be greatly appreciated.
