Theresa A. Esker, 91, formerly of Hatley, passed away on Tuesday , February 19, 2013 at Cedar Creek Manor.
She was born on February 14, 1922 in the Township of Bevent, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Sikorski) Kurszewski. On November 9, 1940, Theresa was united in marriage to Paul Esker Jr. in Bevent. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1998.
The couple farmed in the Township of Reid until retiring in 1975. Theresa enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, playing cards and was a member of a ladies social club for many years. She also enjoyed traveling and the occasional trip to the casino, but most important was the time spent with her family. Theresa was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley and it's Rosary Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Larry) Damask, Hatley and Linda (George) Haka, Custer; grandchildren, Ken (Shannon) Damask, Humble, TX, Chris (Brenda) Damask, Hatley, Kevin (Jill Buchkowski) Damask, Hatley, Laura (Ron) Abt, Ringle and Shawn Haka, Hatley; great-grandchildren, Dalton and Colemon Damask, Brandon (Rachel Kiser) Damask, Melanie Damask, and Justin Abt; great-great granddaughter, Kaidyence Damask; two sisters, Henrietta (Bill) Barnett, Weston and Dolores (Roman) Zblewski, Hatley; brother and sisters-in-law, Marge Kurszewski, Hartford, Alfred (Bernice) Esker, Hatley, Stasia Esker, Hatley and Francis Kurszewski, Hubertus. In addition to her husband and parents, Theresa was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley and Paulette; four sisters, Stella Damask, Mattie Zanowski, Regina Waraksa, Emily Letarski and four brothers, Joe, Raymond, Hubert and William Kurszewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday February 26, 2013 at St. Florian's Catholic Church, Hatley. The Rev. Roy Witucki will officiate. Interment will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00PM until the time of service at the church. There will be a Rosary recited at 1:30PM at the church.
