Tckowski, Edward F.

Edward F. Tckowski, 98, of Stevens Point, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Wellington Place in Whiting.

He was born on March 17, 1914, in Wausau, to the late Felix and Bogumila (Tworkowski) Iczkowski. He was married to Anna Wozniak on June 8, 1940, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Anna died on July, 10, 1991.

Edward served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He entered the service on July 5, 1943, in Milwaukee. He served as a dispatcher and driver, earning the American Theater Service medal and the Good Conduct medal. His honorable discharge, at the rank of sergeant, took place on March 26, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisc.

He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for 20 years before retiring. His activities included being a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1170, American Legion Post No. 6 and the Secular Order of St. Francis.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Tekowski of Stevens Point; and sister, Dorothy Michelkamp of Wisconsin Rapids.

In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by his son, Donald; an infant daughter; and eight brothers and sisters.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
