Elizabeth Marie Mandeville, age 101, Spring Green, died Sunday, November 10, 2013. A former resident of Stevens Point, Elizabeth was born September 11, 1912, in Madison, WI. She was salutatorian of her high school class at Madison East High School, 1928. Elizabeth graduated from UW-Madison in 1933 with a degree in library science. During World War II, Elizabeth was a librarian at Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. She continued her education earning a master's degree in library science. Elizabeth was employed as a librarian with the UW Madison medical library and Mendota State Hospital. She became the head librarian at Edgewood College in Madison where she worked until her retirement in 1970. In 1947, Elizabeth married Charles Mandeville who preceded her in death in 1979.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Mandeville, Dodgeville; son Brian (Cindy) Mandeville, Stevens Point; grandchildren Heidi Milanowski (Ralph), Custer; Lance (Tori) Mandeville, Plover; Thomas Mandeville, Stevens Point; great-grandchildren Lily Milanowski, Luke Milanowski, Custer.
Elizabeth was active in her church and membership in Arbutus Chapter 52, Order of the Eastern Star where she held the office of Worthy Matron. Due to her life-long love of music, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Capital City Band, P.O. Box 258007, Madison, WI 53725-8007 or Greenway Manor Nursing Home, P.O. Box 759, Spring Green, WI 53588. A celebration of life will be held November 24, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Greenway Manor, 501 Winsted Street, Spring Green.
