Grace L. Kranig, 92, of Stevens Point passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital.
Grace was the 4th youngest of 12 children. She was born on March 3, 1920 to Peter and Frances (Milcharek) Waldowski. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, daughter Barbara Felder in 2003 and son Robert Kranig in 2011.
Grace graduated from P.J. Jacob High School and led a successful life long career in women's apparel, most notably at The United Shop on Main Street. She married Lawrence Kranig, a mechanic, in 1941. Their first son Robert was born in 1943, shortly after Lawrence left for England to serve as a mechanic working on airplanes. After his return, twin daughters Bonnie and Barbara were born in 1946 and then Corrine in 1948.
Grace is survived by her remaining children, Bonnie (Don) Pazynski of Marinette and Corrine of Plover; six grandchildren, Carrie (Travis) Baker of Arvada, CO, Rob (JoAnn) Kranig of Onalaska, Ann Balisterri of Fredonia, Peter Balisterri of Chicago, IL, Brad (Becky) Kranig of Petoskey, MI, and Matt Felder of Stevens Point; and five great-grandchildren, Maslin and Taylor Baker (14), Mitchell Kranig (6) and Connor Kranig (4), and Sydney Kranig (3). Her only remaining sibling is Sister Therese Francis Waldowski of Evanston, IL. There are also numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24th from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Visitation will also take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday, June 25th from 9-10am, with Mass service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
