John M. Nowicki, age 94, a resident of North Haven Assisted Living Center in Stevens Point, formerly of 2056 N. Reserve Drive, Town of Hull, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the Town of Hull. Father Arul Joseph V. will officiate, burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.
John was born June 16, 1918 in City Point, WI to the late Stanley and Josephine (Niedojadlo) Nowicki Sr. He attended St. Casimir Catholic School as a boy, and later attended college in Chicago, IL. He was employed as an engine development technician for the Armour Research and Technology Center in Chicago, IL for 10 years.
John married Wanda Kalita on May 19, 1946 at Our lady of Grace Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. Together with his wife Wanda, they owned and operated Wanda's Deli and Sausage in Chicago, IL until 1951. They then moved to Arpin, WI where they farmed for 40 years, before selling their farm and moving to Stevens Point. In his later years, John enjoyed doing some hobby farming on the family homestead and also enjoyed doing mechanical work.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Nowicki of Stevens Point; brothers Casey Nowicki of Stevens Point, Edward Nowicki of Wood Dale, IL, sisters Loretta (Gene) Palys of La Grange, IL, Lynn Ross of Aiken, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Veronica Glusek, Celia Maciejewski and brother Stanley Nowicki Jr.
The family would like to thank the staff of North Haven Assisted Living Center for their excellent care given to John.
