Landwer, Kenneth J.

Kenneth J. Landwer, 84, Junction City, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Portage County Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Junction City with Rev. Dr. Timothy Roser officiating. Burial will take place in Runkel Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Portage County, at a later date and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:30 pm until service time at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Junction City. Martens / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Kenneth was born on February 1, 1930 in Elgin, Illlinois to Alvin and Laura (Leetzow) Landwer. He attended high school in Elgin. Ken married Ruth J. Smith on October 23, 1948. She died on October 22, 2010. After their marriage the couple settled in Elgin, IL and then moved to Junction City on March 17, 1957 and started their dairy farm. While farming he worked with a contractor building houses and later was employed at Koch Refinery until his retirement. They retired from the dairy farm in 2003.

Ken was a very active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Adult Bible Study, and sang in the church choir.

He is survived by his children, Jim Landwer (Sandy Marciniak) of Junction City, Judi (Ted) Suskey of Wisconsin Rapids, Cindy (Randy) Albert of Junction City, Sherri Dunaj of Wisconsin Rapids and Pam (Glenn) Helminiak of Junction City and a son-in-law, Alan Carcy. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Becky (Chad) Snell, Jeff (Debbie) Carcy, Robert (Vicki) Landwer, TJ (Sue) Landwer, Danny (Karla) Landwer, Brian Zarecki, Lori Zarecki, Traci Zarecki, Amanda Zarecki, Kelly (Tim) Schulist, Nicole (Ben) Albert, Andy (Tanya) Dunaj, Tina Dunaj, Heather (Tommy) Brandner, Joel Helminiak, Luke Helminiak, and Haley Helminiak, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great grandson expected any day. He is further survived by 3 brothers, Ronald Landwer (Margaret) of Plover, David (Jean) Landwer Landwer, and Dale (Betty) Landwer all of Elgin, IL.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, a daughter in infancy, a daughter Linda Carcy and 3 grandsons.
