Melvin H. Vroman, age 87 of Almond, WI died on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. Melvin was born July 19, 1926 to Harley and Theresa Vroman in Sheboygan Falls, WI.
He married Vila Peterson on August 5, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Milwaukee, WI and they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Melvin graduated from Almond High School in 1945. He served his country from July 1945 as Tec.5 and earned the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal until he was discharged December 15, 1946. He was employed by American Motors for 30 years in Milwaukee. He retired May 1, 1978 and farmed in the Town of Belmont for 24 years and traveled for 11 years. He spent his life fishing, hunting and bowling. Melvin dearly loved his four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Vila; his son, Frank; his three daughters, Gail (Larry), Cheryl (David) and Donna; and his brother, Lawrence (Edith) Vroman. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters- Delores Dorn and La Verne Smith, his brother, Leland Vroman and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4 at 11 AM at the United Methodist Church in Almond with Pastor David Leistra, officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow in First Belmont Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service.
