Richard 'Dick' C. Zagrzebski 73, of Arbor Vitae, formerly of Stevens Point, died Sunday April 8, 2012, at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff. He was born on May 5, 1938, in Whiting. He was the son of the late Edwin & Alice (Turzinski) Zagrzebski. He attended local schools graduating from P.J. Jacobs in 1957.

Dick served in the Army National Guard and was called up to active duty during the Berlin Crisis on October 15, 1961; he remained on active duty until August 10, 1962, where he then returned to serve in the Army National Guard for 22 years.

His marriage to Virginia Zalewski took place on January 3, 1959 at St. Peter Catholic Church, after the marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point. Dick worked for Consolidated Papers Wisconsin River Division in maintenance and as a superintendent retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Dodge #7827 in Woodruff, American Legion Post #0089, Little Arbor Vitae Lake Association, P.F.M.A. member, former Howard Young Hospital volunteer, and Boy Scout Master with troop #290.

He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Green Bay Packers, traveling all over the world, golfing, woodworking and just being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Arbor Vitae. Sons, Rick (Briana) of Arroyo Grande California, Gary (Jean) of Mosinee, Tom (Charlene) of Rudolph, Mike (Peggy) of Grand Junction Colorado, Mark (Melissa) of Marcellus Michigan, Bob (Tanya) of Stevens Point, & Troy (Crisi) of Stevens Point. Daughter, Nanci Spires of Bonita Springs Florida.

Grandchildren, Lee, Cody, Lanea, Riley, Kayla, Joshua, Taylor, Cole, Creed, Trey & Jade. Step grandchildren, Colton & Kacey Darian.

Brothers, Edwin Jr. (Jeanette) of Schofield, Ralph (Rita) of Wausau, David (Barbara) of Stevens Point & Theodore (Janice) of Arizona. Sisters, Marilyn (William) Heilman of Washington, Margaret (Casimir) Bernas of Stevens Point & Linda Kight of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his brother Conrad, Mother & Father in Law, John & Bernice Zalewski.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday April 13, 2012 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Stevens Point. Rev Arul Joseph V. will be officiating. Visitation on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home 703 Second Street Stevens Point and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m., until time of service in the St. Faustina room at the church. Parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in Richard's name will be established at a later date.
