Sister Florence Domka, 84, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 67 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the St. Joseph Motherhouse in Stevens Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, 1300 Maria Drive, Stevens Point, with the Rev. Todd Mlsna officiating. Burial will follow in the convent cemetery. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The former Helen Irene Domka was born July 17, 1929, in Stevens Point to the late John and Regina (Waldoch) Domka. She entered the community on Aug. 15, 1943, and professed perpetual vows on Aug. 10, 1953.
Sister Domka was an educator in Catholic schools for 24 years. Locally, she taught at Maria High School and at the co-ed Pacelli High School. She then served for 11 years in provincial leadership of her religious community based in Stevens Point. For 13 years, she was a pastoral associate at Notre Dame Parish in Chippewa Falls. She retired at St. Joseph Motherhouse in 2000, offering supportive services.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Edmund, Frank, Stanley and Stephen.
Memorials may be offered to the Sisters of St. Joseph-TOSF.
