Gerald A. "Jerry" Drexler, 73, Marshfield, died peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Portage County Health Care Center, Stevens Point.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive relatives and friends at St. John's Church on Tuesday from 11:00 am until service time. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Gerald was born on February 29, 1940 in Marshfield to George and Florence (Vandeloo) Drexler and was a graduate of Columbus High School, Marshfield. He also attended DeVry Technical School in Chicago, where he studied electronics. He married Phyllis Wood and they later divorced. He spent the remainder of his years with the love of his life, Karen Groholski.
Jerry was the founding father of the Marshfield Century 21 office which began as Drexler-Rohmeyer Realty.
He thoroughly enjoyed electronics and traveling, especially to Florida. Jerry was a prankster, had a crazy sense of humor, was a great poem writer and had a huge tender heart. He also was a football fan and a sci-fi geek.
He is survived by his fiancée, Karen Groholski of Stevens Point, and her children, Anne (Scott) Kiefer and Chris Groholski; a brother, LaVerne (Donna) Drexler of Marshfield and a sister, Darlene (Ed) Heimerl of New Brighton, MN.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister.
The family will designate a memorial in Jerry's name.
